Senior Land Surveyor/Setting Out Engineer

Calculate volumes of cut and fill and prepare earthworks balance sheets.

LSS (Land Surveying Software) Utilization:

1. Use LSS software for processing survey data, creating 3D models, and producing detailed reports.
2. Develop digital terrain models (DTMs) and perform volume calculations using LSS.
3. Create and manage project-specific databases within LSS.
4. Generate contour maps, sections, and profiles using LSS.
5. Ensure accurate integration of LSS data with other engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD).

Construction Support:

1. Set out control points and benchmarks for construction projects, particularly earthworks.
2. Produce machine control models and files for plant to use.
3. Monitor construction progress to ensure compliance with design specifications, earthworks standards, and surveying standards.
4. Provide as-built surveys to document completed earthworks projects.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

1. Ensure all surveying activities comply with relevant legal, safety, and quality standards.
2. Maintain accurate records of survey data and project documentation.
3. Review and verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations.

Technology and Equipment Management:

1. Maintain and calibrate surveying instruments and equipment.
2. Stay updated with the latest surveying and earthworks technologies and methodologies.
3. Utilize surveying software for data processing and analysis.

Team Collaboration and Communication:

1. Mentor and support the engineering team.
2. Work closely with project teams, contractors, and clients to understand project requirements and deliver accurate results.
3. Communicate survey findings and provide technical support as needed.
4. Train and supervise junior surveyors and technicians.

Qualifications:

Experience:

1. Minimum 5 -10 years of experience in surveying or a related field.
2. Experience with civil engineering projects, particularly earthworks, is preferred.
3. Proficiency in using LSS software and AutoCAD.

Skills:

1. Proficiency in using surveying instruments and equipment (e.g., GPS, total stations).
2. Strong knowledge of LSS software for survey data processing and analysis.
3. Strong knowledge of AutoCAD software.
4. GVC drone qualification.
5. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
6. Knowledge of earthworks processes, including excavation, grading, and soil stabilization.
7. Ability to calculate cut and fill volumes and prepare earthworks balance sheets.
8. Attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and analysis.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
11. Physical stamina and the ability to work in various outdoor conditions.

1. £42-50k per annum salary subject to experience.
