Job Title: Senior Java Engineer – FX Technology

Our Foreign Exchange (FX) Technology team are working with modern technology to support a top 3 leadership position of Deutsche Bank in Foreign Exchange space. You’ll be part of a global team working directly with the front-office technology supporting electronic Forwards trading business that involves very large amounts of data, strong performance requirements, and globally distributed infrastructure. Forwards trading within Foreign Exchange complex is an area of growth undergoing rapid electronification with a fully packed product development roadmap and non-functional efficiency challenges abound.
Most of the platform is written in Java with the pricing core being very latency sensitive and using state-of-the-art programming techniques enabling the scale to cover all G10 currencies and emerging markets. You will be working at the heart of the platform with direct communication with front office colleagues delivering in an agile fashion. The role would involve not only functional development but also cover non-functionals like latency, horizontal scalability, and cloud readiness.

Your key responsibilities:
- Undertaking development across functional and non-functional project goals
- Investing in automated testing coverage and test-driven development
- Performance research and ability to apply out of the box thinking to solve performance or bandwidth bottlenecks
- Close collaboration with eFX Quantitative research and trading teams on a wide range of topics including platform goals, design, feedback on enhancements, and usability
- Clear and concise documentation covering the solution design, architecture choices, and any complicated code points
Your skills and experience:
- Excellent knowledge of core Java platform
- Experience in performance optimization of multi-threaded Java applications or a familiarity with no-gc Java coding is a plus
- Experience implementing fault-tolerant/load-balancing solutions
- Experience with test-driven development and ability to formulate precise testing scenarios including performance testing
