Senior IT Manager

We are currently recruiting for a Senior IT Manager to join our IT Team based at our site in Glenrothes.
Position Summary:
The Senior IT Manager is responsible for the planning, processes and implementation of software and hardware development and maintenance by performing the following duties under minimal supervision.
Dimensions:
- Position to be based in Glenrothes, Headquarters of Leviton Manufacturing UK Limited
- Managing an IT budget of approx. £1M
- Managing a team of 5 IT professionals
- Servers hosted on site mainly at Glenrothes Location
- Microsoft Operating System used across Servers and PC’s
- ERP System running in a HP-UX (Unix) Environment
- Local Area Network and Wide Area Network in place
- Combination of Bespoke and 3rd Party Software in use
- Approx 250 PC Users
- IT Standards and Security governed by Corporate IT – Leviton Headquarters, New York, USA.
Essential Functions:
- Create and implement procedures for efficient, effective, and consistent software/hardware development and maintenance.
- Enforce and maintain software/hardware development procedures; update procedures as needed.
- Write, review and/or amend specifications for projects as needed to clearly define business requirements.
- Deliver a quality service to end users.
- Manage and develop the overall IT infrastructure in line with overall Corporate IT standards.
- Working with the Corporate IT Function, implement new technology as appropriate and approved.
- Review and recommend changes to all systems, policies, and procedures as needed to enhance the mission of the organization.
- Manage staff and software development of projects to meet scheduled dates.
- Set up and maintain systems to ensure minimum downtime.
- Be prepared to undertake ‘out of hours’ support and maintenance duties.
- Be responsible for the purchase of all new IT related equipment and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Create and maintain IT Budget for Leviton Manufacturing UK Limited IT needs.
- Motivate employees to maximize individual contribution to objectives.
- Responsible for all management job duties: recruitment; assigning and directing work, performance management, rewards and recognition, performance counseling and resolving problems.
- Coach and develop employees; undertake annual reviews/appraisals for Local IT team.

- To lead and develop both your team, and the individuals within the team, through coaching, mentoring, leadership, and communication skills.
- To operate to the highest ethical standards, and conduct business with integrity, undertaking all business within a culture of honesty, fairness, and legal compliance.
- Provide expert knowledge, experience and an innovative approach to support and develop the IT strategy ensuring it is continually appraised and updated to reflect the IT requirements to support the strategy of Leviton Network Solutions.
- Provide expert strategic knowledge and inspirational leadership, training and coaching to the IT staff for whom you are responsible.
- Provide proactive comprehensive solution-oriented support to the Leviton Directors, Managers, and staff on all IT matters.
- To be a decision maker providing strategic and professional leadership on IT projects and development.
- Continually review technical developments to ensure where feasible that efficiency is maintained.
- To be responsible for the operational, strategic planning and provision of resource for the delivery of projects and support across the organisation.
- Delivery of projects, both technical and applications, on time and on budget in line with business requirements.
- Ensure that user requirements are met and communication during the project journey has been open and realistic.
- Negotiation of prices and achieving best values on IT purchases.
- Manage tender processes in relation to IT hardware, networks and security, telephony, IT peripherals and service together with software solutions. Oversee the implementation of these and ensure future needs are anticipated.
- Oversee all IT related purchasing budget preparation and monitoring with support from Finance.
- Keep pace with legislation to ensure compliance in all areas including Data Protection in liaison with the organisation.
- Responsible for ensuring, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of your staff and volunteers.
- Undertake any other duties which may reasonably be required of you.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience:
Education
- Computing Degree or equivalent.
Experience
- At least 5 years in a similar role would be advantageous.
- Proven experience of delivery of successful IT systems development and technology projects, budget management including development of business cases and inspirational leadership.
- Experience of change management, proven experience of developing, gaining support organisation wide for and implementing robust systems and solutions.
- Experience of working in a large, complex organisation as the IT Manager.
- Evidence of strong inclusive team working approach and understanding of and ability to work with non-IT staff to translate organisation and customer needs into successful service delivery.
- Experience of managing 3rd party supplier relationships.
- Experience of IT software development projects.
- Experience of business analysis tools and processes.
Skills
- Staff management in a Technical Environment.
- Working knowledge of: Microsoft Windows Servers, Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks, SQL Database, Unix Operating System, Informix Database Administration, PC Configuration and Support.
- Success leading teams or collaborating with business partners and peer-level professionals from other IT specialties.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a project and lead a project team, report status and meet deadlines.
- Manage system upgrade, integration, and implementation activities.
- Ability to work well in a team environment with minimal direct supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively and in writing at all levels within Leviton.
- Proactive decision maker who can positively influence change.
- Inspirational collaborative Senior Manager who supports, coaches, and leads the IT team to deliver technical and software solutions to support the strategy and objectives of Leviton.
- Well-developed influencing skills, comfortable operating in a consultative capacity with a proven track record of delivering solutions for internal clients on time and within budget.
- Ability to establish and maintain the confidence, trust and support of IT staff and users alike through periods of significant organisational change.

Travel:
There will be some travel involved in this role (up to 5%), which may involve travelling to the USA.
