Job Title: Senior Integrated Product Support Engineer
Location: Bristol, Plymouth, or Walsall + Hybrid Working Arrangement
Compensation: From £45,400 negotiable dependant on experience

In Walsall, we convert vehicles to meet a wide variety of requirements, from the production of police vehicles to Military Armoured Cars to serving in volatile environments and protecting against roadside explosions and mine attacks. Whilst in our Southwest facility, we have developed a flexible vehicle assembly line to build vehicles at scale for our UK and overseas partners.

The role
As a Senior Product Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This is an exciting opportunity to support Babcock with delivering our purpose of Creating a Safe and Secure World through the conversion of vehicles to meet military and emergency services demanding requirements.

Day-to-day, you'll focus on developing and implementing support strategies, by joining our engineering team to develop an Integrated Product Support (IPS) solution to engineering and build activities.

  1. Develop or update maintenance concepts, including preventive and corrective maintenance plans, and produce comprehensive technical documents such as user manuals, installation guides, API documentation, and online help resources.
  2. Perform to Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (AR&M) analysis to ensure systems meet performance targets. Conduct Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) to predict system failure points and recommend solutions. Perform Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) to assess the work required to keep vehicles available, and set the skills and facilities required to undertake them.
  3. Work with design engineers, project managers, and logistics teams to integrate support requirements into product development.
  4. Ensure compliance with the necessary contractual and legislative requirements.
  5. Support the creation and delivery of training programs for operators and maintainers.
This role is full time 37.5 hours per week and requires regular travel to Walsall, Bristol, and Plymouth on a monthly basis alongside home working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Senior Product Engineer
  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to non-technical audiences.
  2. Experience of vehicle quality, vehicle maintenance processes and legislative requirements.
  3. Understanding of the customer context and requirements with regards to vehicle support, assurance, evaluation, and improvement.
  4. Competent PC user (MS Office, MS Outlook, SharePoint, ERP & Document management systems).
  5. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is advantageous.
