Ramsdens is a trusted and expanding multi-service retailer offering Travel Money, Jewellery and Loan Services; we have over 160 High Street stores in England, Scotland and Wales. We are looking to recruit a Senior HR/ER advisor working in our Teesside Head Office.

Job responsibilities

Summary of main tasks:

  • Developing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with colleagues of all levels demonstrating professional credibility.
  • Responsible for managing a case load of various complex ER issues using your knowledge in ER and employment law.
  • Managing multiple complex ER cases from receipt through to its conclusion and ensuring that all records are updated accordingly.
  • Collaborate with the relevant external agencies, as required for referral of high-risk ER cases including Early Conciliation and ET claims and Occupational Health.
  • Leading management of casework including sickness absence, making recommendations, giving support and advice to managers.
  • Developing and coaching managers in performance management of employees by leading the capability-related casework, guiding and advising managers in line with relevant policies.
  • Supporting the junior members of the HR team on grievance and disciplinary casework, ensuring the implementation of policy, legislation and best practice.
  • Involved in preparing ad hoc and regular management reports, monitoring and reporting key metrics, such as turnover and retention rates.
  • Keeping up to date regarding developments in human resources practices, employment legislation, sharing of knowledge within team and implementing the necessary changes.
  • Providing support and guidance to the HR team.
  • Maintaining and updating HR information systems and ensuring accurate and timely recording of all staff information.
  • Participating in training activities, encouraging and supporting staff in their training and development.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant HR policies and procedures.
  • Effective verbal communication to staff of all levels and the written communication skills to produce succinct correspondence and reports.
  • Using HR information systems to access, input and compile data.
  • Managing staff relationships, responding to any queries or problems that they have and managing their expectations.

Your experience will include:

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Proven work experience as an HR advisor, HR consultant or similar role.
  • Ability to advise and work with senior members of staff.
  • Hands-on experience with IT programmes and HR systems.
  • Proficient IT skills including MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Employee Relations knowledge and experience is essential.
  • HR advisory experience, with a good working knowledge of theory and best practice.
  • Personable with strong communication and relationship building capabilities across all levels of the business.
  • Driven and determined.
  • Practical and logical; able to solve problems quickly.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Able to motivate and empower others to reach organisational goals.
  • Strong understanding and respect for confidentiality.

Desirable

  • CIPD qualified desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to design clear and fair company policies.
  • Experience of dealing with Early Conciliation and ET claims.

You must be willing to work 37.5 hours per week. (5 days per week Monday to Friday)
