Job description

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust

To co-ordinate the organisation and management of neurosurgery patients, assist the multidisciplinary health care team in the timely provision of a managed service, treatment and supportive care to children and their families referred to neurosurgery for both inpatients and day care patients, and promote family centred care while establishing good relationships with children and their families.

Main duties of the job

  1. Lead and work as part of the Neurosurgery team in supporting the service.
  2. Introduce the neurosurgery team.
  3. Provide support to parents/carers, setting up MYGOSH and contact information.
  4. Undertake clinical observations; temperature, pulse, respiratory and heart rate, and report any abnormalities to a trained nurse.
  5. Clinic preparation and investigation planning.
  6. Work as a member of the health care team to assist with the planning, assessment, implementation and evaluation of the care for the children attending GOSH.
  7. Discharge planning and wound care.
