Job Title: Senior Health Care Assistant & Team Leader (Temp to Perm) Brentwood NO SPONSERSHIP OFFERED.

Our client is an established, family-run elderly care home provider in Brentwood, Essex, operating since 1991. They are expanding their team as they transition into a new state-of-the-art care home offering residential and dementia care. We're seeking dedicated individuals for the following roles:

  • Senior Health Care Assistant (Day Shift)
  • Team Leader (Night Shift)

Requirements:

To be considered for these roles, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting, particularly with elderly or dementia care.

References: Professional references to verify your previous work experience.

DBS: A current DBS check is preferred, ideally on the update service.

Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) is required for both roles.

Passion for Care: A genuine passion for providing excellent care and making a difference in the lives of our residents.

Communication: Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.

Position Type: Temporary to Permanent (13-week temp contract through the agency, transitioning to permanent employment with our client)
Pay Rate: GBP13.00 per hour, with an increase upon permanent transfer.

Schedule:

Senior Health Care Assistant: Day shifts (07:30 - 20:30)

Team Leader: Night shifts (Full-time, 3-4 nights a week)

Role 1: Senior Health Care Assistant (Day Shift)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality care for elderly residents, including those with dementia, following their care plans and supporting their emotional well-being.
  • Lead, supervise, and support a team of care workers, ensuring a smooth and efficient care delivery throughout the day.
  • Ensure the home operates safely and efficiently in accordance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with residents and their families, promoting dignity and choice.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior staff and ensure they meet company standards.
  • Administer medication and assist with other health-related tasks as needed.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure accurate record-keeping of resident care and staff performance.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a care role, particularly with elderly or dementia patients.
  • NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care qualification (or equivalent).
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
  • A genuine passion for care and making a difference in the lives of residents.

Role 2: Team Leader (Night Shift)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of the care home operations at night, ensuring that the health, safety, and well-being of all residents are maintained.
  • Lead and manage the night care team, ensuring staffing levels are appropriate, safe, and compliant with all regulations.
  • Promote a positive and caring environment by supporting staff, encouraging teamwork, and maintaining a high standard of care.
  • Address the health and care needs of residents, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the night.
  • Implement and oversee care plans, medication administration, and any emergency situations.
  • Ensure effective communication across shifts, keeping all staff informed and ensuring continuity of care.
  • Conduct audits to ensure all required documentation is up to date and accurate.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience in a care setting, ideally with elderly or dementia care.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Strong leadership skills, with a hands-on, supportive approach to management.
  • Ability to manage and maintain effective communication during night shifts.
  • A caring, motivated, and flexible team player, capable of addressing challenges in the night environment.
