Job description

Senior Health and Safety Manager required to join an award-winning, safety dedicated, consultancy firm. This client side role will play a pivotal part in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of project teams on a 2.5bn new reservoir build programme, focused on delivering high standards in a challenging and dynamic environment.

Initial enabling works include railway and highways infrastructure access to be designed and constructed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the 'competent person' for Health, Safety and Well-being within the project delivery team.
  2. Develop, update, and implement project-specific Health, Safety and Well-being risk management systems, processes, and training, aligning with project strategy and standards.
  3. Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and manage Health, Safety and Well-being incident and ill-health reports.
  4. Support and lead monthly Health, Safety and Well-being and CDM meetings, ensuring a coordinated and consistent approach to safety across the project.
  5. Liaise with the CDM Manager and CDM Advisor to deliver comprehensive Health, Safety and Well-being provisions throughout the project.
  6. Ensure the ongoing development, coordination, and submission of monthly data, reporting, and KPIs.
  7. Collaborate with the wide delivery partners on construction site Health, Safety and Well-being requirements, leading on joint Health, Safety and Well-being initiatives.
  8. Provide expert advice and direction to all team members.
  9. Work closely with the client on behavioural safety and safety cultural initiatives.

Qualifications:

You will hold CMIOSH or equivalent status.

Experience:

You will have significant demonstrable relevant experience suitable for a very large, complex engineering project. Extensive experience in Health, Safety and Well-being risk management, particularly in complex, multi-organisational projects, with a strong background in CDM management. This could have been gained contractor or client side and preferably, you will have experience of both.

Competency within railway and highways operating projects would be significantly advantageous. As would previous large scale water infrastructure or reservoir projects.

Location:

Regular presence in the central London office (2 days per week). Travel to the Oxfordshire site, as required.
