Senior Health and Safety Manager
Bedford (Home-based with Travel) Circa £75,000 + Car Allowance & Excellent Benefits

Irwin and Colton has been engaged by one of the UK's largest civil engineering, infrastructure, and utilities contractors to recruit a Senior Health and Safety Manager. This role will take ownership of health and safety performance across a major business unit, ensuring high standards are not only maintained but continually improved.

With a combined turnover exceeding £400m, this is an organisation with scale and ambition. They're seeking a proactive safety leader with fresh thinking and a strategic mindset to help shape the future of their health and safety function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and supporting the Health and Safety Team to successfully deliver the Health and Safety strategy across the business unit
  • Engaging with senior leadership, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure clear accountability and expert guidance on health and safety matters
  • Leading major incident investigations, identifying root causes, and developing robust preventative measures
  • Championing innovation and identifying new initiatives to enhance safety culture and performance
Minimum Requirements
  • Proven experience in a similar role within civil engineering, utilities, or the broader construction sector
  • A track record of influencing and coaching senior stakeholders, as well as liaising directly with clients
  • Strong technical knowledge of health and safety legislation, compliance, and regulatory frameworks
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) - or working towards it
