Senior Health and Safety Manager
Bedford (Home-based with Travel) | Circa £75,000 + Car Allowance & Excellent Benefits

Irwin and Colton has been engaged by one of the UK's largest civil engineering, infrastructure, and utilities contractors to recruit a Senior Health and Safety Manager. This role will take ownership of health and safety performance across a major business unit, ensuring high standards are not only maintained but continually improved.

With a combined turnover exceeding £400m, this is an organisation with scale and ambition. They're seeking a proactive safety leader with fresh thinking and a strategic mindset to help shape the future of their health and safety function.

Key responsibilities for the Senior Health and Safety Manager include:

1. Leading and supporting the Health and Safety Team to successfully deliver the Health and Safety strategy across the business unit
2. Engaging with senior leadership, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure clear accountability and expert guidance on health and safety matters
3. Leading major incident investigations, identifying root causes, and developing robust preventative measures
4. Championing innovation and identifying new initiatives to enhance safety culture and performance

The successful candidate will have:

1. Proven experience in a similar role within civil engineering, utilities, or the broader construction sector
2. A track record of influencing and coaching senior stakeholders, as well as liaising directly with clients
3. Strong technical knowledge of health and safety legislation, compliance, and regulatory frameworks
4. NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) - or working towards it
