Job description

Opportunity to Join a High-Impact, Future-Focused Role at Edinburgh Airport!

On behalf of our client, Edinburgh Airport, we are hiring a Senior Technician to support the leadership and delivery of a safe, efficient, and forward-thinking fleet operation.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Scotland's busiest airport at a critical time of innovation, decarbonisation, and growth.

If you're passionate about vehicle technology, experienced in fleet operations, and ready to step into a role where you'll make a real difference — we want to hear from you.

Why This Role Stands Out

This isn't just another maintenance role. As Senior Technician, you'll be a key player in a major fleet transformation — helping shift the airport's vehicle fleet to electric while ensuring operational excellence. You'll work with a wide range of vehicles and equipment, lead maintenance activities, and mentor apprentices, all within a dynamic, safety-driven environment.

What You'll Be Doing
  1. Vehicle Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose, maintain, and repair a wide variety of airport vehicles — from shuttles to heavy equipment — ensuring all work meets compliance and safety standards.
  2. Team Leadership: Mentor and support apprentices and junior technicians, sharing your technical expertise and helping to shape the next generation of talent.
  3. Safety & Compliance: Drive a proactive safety culture, conduct regular inspections, and maintain records in line with regulations and internal standards.
  4. Fleet Transformation: Support the airport's shift toward electric vehicles, helping introduce new technologies and practices aligned with sustainability goals.
  5. Resource Management: Oversee parts and tools inventory, liaise with suppliers, and support efficient, cost-effective operations.
  6. Operational Support: Collaborate with airport operations to ensure the fleet is ready, reliable, and aligned with daily airport needs.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who's not only technically strong but also takes pride in leading, mentoring, and solving problems in a high-performance environment.

Must-Have Qualifications & Experience
  1. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  2. At least 5 years' experience as a technician, with 2+ years in a senior or supervisory role
  3. Broad experience across diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance
  4. Proficient with diagnostic tools and repair software
  5. Valid UK driving licence
  6. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  7. A strong commitment to safety, compliance, and team collaboration
  8. Experience with EV fleet transition or sustainability-focused fleet strategies
  9. Understanding of lean or continuous improvement methodologies

What's in It for You

This role offers the chance to work in one of Scotland's most critical transport hubs, where no two days are the same. You'll be joining a collaborative, safety-first team that's passionate about doing things right — and doing them better.

Benefits Include:
  1. Competitive salary + on-call/snow call allowances
  2. Up to 7% employer pension contributions
  3. 256 hours holiday (increasing with service)

  5. Private healthcare (after 1 year)
  6. Free on-site parking, including when you travel
  7. Access to Employee Assistance Programme and occupational health services
  8. A full range of employee benefits available
