About the role

Hargreaves Lansdown (HL) are now recruiting for a Senior Financial Crime Risk Manager to join the team. You'll be reporting directly to the Group Head of Financial Crime and MLRO will be responsible for designing and managing the 2LOD financial crime controls testing plan.

As the Senior Financial Crime Risk Manager, you'll be monitoring and overseeing AML and financial crime controls testing for each ofHL's4 regulated entities at HL including HL Asset Management, HL Active Savings, HL Advisory and HL Fund Managers providing risk and controls testing to ensure 1st line controls are operating effectively and in line with HL AML & Financial Crime Prevention Policy and MLRO expectations.

What you'll be doing
  • Designing and implementing a consistent 2nd Line of Defence (LoD) testing capability for ensuring that AML and financial crime controls (1LoD and 2LoD controls) for Anti Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions/PEPs, Bribery and Corruption (ABC), AML transaction monitoring, fraud and SAR reporting and investigating, are robust and correctly executed across HL to effectively manage AML and financial crime risks.
  • Providing management reporting and proactively identify risks, assess the relevant controls for AML and financial crime, and partner with the process owners in 1LOD to provide additional training and enhance the effectiveness of their processes.
  • Responsibility for maintaining oversight of HL's anti-bribery and corruption (ABC) and tax evasion controls.
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with various teams, as required to drive effective execution controls testing.
  • Creating a clear 12-month plan for controls testing across all 4 business areas.
  • Documenting the findings in a report with recommendations for actions including enhanced training where appropriate, updating procedures and areas where controls will need to improve.
  • Maintaining oversight and awareness of regulatory developments and conduct horizon scanning on changes that could impact HL and the AML and financial crime framework.
  • Leading and driving the annual review of the business-wide AML and financial crime risk assessment ensuring it is completed for all 4 regulated entities.
  • Conducting themed reviews concerning AML and financial crime as directed by the Group Head of Financial Crime and MLRO.
  • Managing resource as and when required as part of controls testing and review work.

About you
  • SME in AML and financial crime.
  • Demonstrable AML or financial crime experience within financial services.
  • Experience in CDDKYC remediation projects, AML transaction monitoring, ABC, Sanctions/PEP screening, tax evasion and SAR investigation and reporting.
  • Experience in a 2LOD oversight and testing role.
  • Detailed knowledge of Money Laundering Regulations and FCA best practice.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements to assess the operating effectiveness of controls.
  • Excellent knowledge of products and services offered within an Investment Bank/Financial Markets and Financial Crime.
  • Performance and results oriented with strong attention to detail, able to deliver high quality results within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills, including report writing skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimum direction.
  • Ability to work with key stakeholders in 1st and 2nd line.

Interview process

This will be a two-stage interview process, including competency-based questions and a presentation.

Working Schedule

The role is based in our Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office, however for this role we offer a hybrid flexible working pattern.
