Senior Financial Controller
  • Location:West London (Hybrid working)
  • Job Type:Permanent
  • Salary:Up to £150,000 per annum

Reed is working with a leading energy and utilities provider to recruit a Senior Financial Controller. This crucial role ensures that all accounting records are meticulously prepared in accordance with accounting standards and legislation. The Senior Financial Controller will manage financial forecasts, reporting, and maintain a robust control environment, reporting directly to the Head of Finance as well as frequent dealings with the Managing Director and CFO. This position offers a significant opportunity to influence the financial management of the company and lead the wider finance team to excellence as you will bridge the gap between 4-5 junior partqualified accountants and the senior leadership team.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Oversee all financial control activities, including the review and analysis of monthly and quarterly numbers and disclosures.
  • Provide senior management with accurate and comprehensive financial information to guide policymaking and financial decisions.
  • Manage all finance and accounting operations, including the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and reporting variances.
  • Prepare timely monthly management accounts and streamline operations and accounting systems.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance and provide support to external auditors.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A practical understanding of management accounting principles and techniques.
  • Solid IT skills, with proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills to effectively analyse financial reports.
  • In-depth knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting.
  • Proven leadership experience of finance teams between 4-8 members.
  • Experience with derivative and fair value reporting.
  • 10+ years of qualified accounting and finance experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience creating financial statements.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Energy or utilities experience is preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
