Job description

Finance Manager
North West, London
£65,000 - £75,000 + Car + Bonus

We are currently working with this highly successful and market-leading construction business based in North West London who are looking to appoint a Finance Manager to join their high-performing finance function.

This is a great opportunity for a technically strong Qualified (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) to work alongside the Senior Finance Leadership Team in a broad role that will give the successful candidate exposure across all aspects of finance from Year-End Statutory Accounting to Cashflow, Tax, Budgeting & Forecasting, Financial and Management Accounting, and Systems development.

The role would suit a Qualified Accountant who has several years of post-qualified experience and a strong accounting and technical background, possibly from Audit / Financial Accounting / Management Accounting roles, seeking to take on additional responsibility in a broad role that will provide a rounded skill set to allow them to step into a Financial Controller role down the line.

Working with an experienced CFO and Group FC, the role offers a unique development opportunity to develop a rounded technical, controlling, and commercial finance skill set within a fully functioning finance department that also has scope to develop in areas such as data visualisation, data management, data analysis, and automation.

Those with an interest in and strong IT skill set will have a distinct advantage and opportunity to add real value to an already great finance function. If you are seeking a new challenge and like the idea of professional development within a financial and commercial reporting environment with excellent exposure to great mentors, we would like to hear from you.

Working within an autonomous sub-£200M business, it is important that you are someone who is happy to work across finance and cover for colleagues where required in a team that is not precious about undertaking more junior tasks if required.

Duties will include:
  1. Delivery of subsidiary and consolidated monthly management accounts, annual financial statements, tax, and other returns in an accurate and timely manner.
  2. Preparation of subsidiary company management accounts with commentary and analysis.
  3. Treasury management including cash flow forecasts and bank reconciliations.
  4. Project Accounting and Contract cash reporting.
  5. Application of financial controls including balance sheet reconciliations.
  6. Preparation of subsidiary company annual financial statements.
  7. Completion of company VAT Returns.
  8. Corporation Tax computations.
  9. Playing a key role in finance improvement projects.
  10. Developing processes, controls, and insightful reporting metrics.
  11. Other ad hoc projects.
To apply we ask that applicants carefully consider if they meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be Fully Qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
  2. Experience within construction would be advantageous but is NOT a necessity.
  3. Must have post-qualified experience.
  4. Must have strong technical financial accounting including exposure to Statutory Accounts, working with Auditors, and some exposure to tax (VAT / Corporation).
  5. Must have a strong IT skill set including advanced Excel skills and ideally some exposure to data analysis / visualisation tools i.e. Power BI or similar.
  6. As this role is office-based, must live locally to North West London or a sensible commuting distance.
  7. Enjoys working as part of a small team to achieve goals and create success.
  8. Able to challenge the status quo and make improvements.
  9. A proactive and results-driven individual that takes pride in doing a great job.
  10. Ability to work with all levels across the business.
