Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Finance Business Partner in our busy, professional finance department to cover a 9-month maternity leave.
The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant and have experience in management accounts and business partnering. They'll manage two direct reports and develop their team's exposure to all levels of management, both within the finance team and across our pathology labs.
The role reports to the Lead Finance Business Partner and acts as an intermediary between the central Finance Team and Synnovis Analytics' & Services' operations. The role requires proactive collaboration with the business and would suit someone looking for a semi-autonomous position with plenty of scope to add value.
You will be responsible for working closely with senior operations staff, producing, interpreting, and communicating the financial results; you'll partner with them to take the actions necessary to deliver the budget on target, as well as driving further improvements in the financial performance of the business.
Each month you'll gather financial and operational data from various sources and produce the month-end reporting packs which are key to interpreting performance and partner with the site leads to take management actions based on that information. You will monitor financial information and produce variance analysis, budgeting, and re-forecasting, as well as provide analysis to support business cases and new test pricing which drive the business forward.

Working within the Finance Business Partnering team you'll partner across our business, working closely with Operations to drive performance.
The role is based at our Head Office, but you'll need to engage with our Operations teams and stakeholders across all our hospital sites.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Partnering with the Director of Operations for Reference Services to drive EBITDA insight & improvements across our various laboratory sites.
- Responsible for KCH and their subcontract(s) accounting and reporting.
- Overall responsibility for RBH&H and their subcontract(s) accounting and reporting although the Finance Business Partner within your team manages this contract from a day-to-day perspective.
- Identifying ways to make cost-savings or drive growth.
- Budgeting and Forecasting performance.
- Managing the customer contract (KCH) to make sure payments and charges between the organisations are up to date, disputes are resolved, and contract developments are advanced in a timely manner.
- Preparation and circulation of monthly management reporting.
- Investigating variances to budget or forecast.
- Presenting performance to CFO, COO and Lead FBP.
- Supporting the production of quality business cases.
- Supporting decision-making around new hires, capital equipment, etc.
- Managing a team of two finance business partners.
- Month end close P&L responsibilities.
- Developing pricing for new tests and other service enhancements.

Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteria- Fully-Qualified in a recognised accounting qualification, namely ACA, ACCA, CIPFA or CIMA.
ExperienceEssential criteria- Proven Finance Business Partnering experience of working across operational and corporate functions.
- Proven financial savings/ benefits that have added value to the Business.
- Team management and development experience.
- Experience within Healthcare/ Scientific Industry.
Skills & KnowledgeEssential criteria- SAP experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Fast thinker, highly numerate with strong analytical skills.
- Detail orientated, ensuring tasks are finished to high standard.
- Be able to tell a story to a non-finance audience. Demonstrate how the financial data ties into strategic business objectives.
- Influence and work effectively with non-financial managers.
- Credible and confident presenter.

- Excellent problem solver - and importantly they know that they can't solve problems on their own.
