The Opportunity:Due to an increasing workload, we have exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineering Manager within the Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) sector of the EW line of business. The Engineering Manager provides the engineering leadership and management to teams consisting of a Project Engineering Lead, Systems and Software engineers. In collaboration with the Systems Design Authority (SDA) and the Head of Engineering, they identify, develop, deliver and support the technical solution. The Engineering Manager is also responsible for developing all members of their team, providing mentoring, coaching, setting objectives and appraising them on their performance.

What you'll do as an Engineer Manager:As an Engineering Manager in IMS you will be responsible for:
- Leading all the Engineering aspects of a group of Product / Project, ensuring technical quality, schedule and budget are maintained and that the solutions is in line with the Sector's long term business plan
- The management of cross-site, multi-disciplined engineering teams, ensuring that roles within the teams are clearly defined
- Creating a positive working relationship with our internal and external customers and partners, to deliver product / project capability
- Establishing and maintaining good lines of communication internally with the Engineering IPT, with IPT lead, Project Manager and Heads of function
- Providing your team with clear expectations of the projects engineering goals, ensuring adherence to company policies & procedures.
- Working closely with the SDA ensuring they are fully informed on technical progress, technical risk and any mitigation strategies
- Ensuring the design solution meets the end user requirement, is reliable, fully documented, works within its designated environment
- Controlling project configuration and change management to ensure design reuse is maximised.
- Supporting the management of Suppliers and project Make or Buy decisions
- Ensuring candidate concept solutions are captured, including the results of any trade off studies and end user engagement
- Supporting and Developing the next generation of Engineering Managers
What we need from you:You really must have:- Experience in delivery of engineering projects
- Ability to produce clear, concise engineering plans
- Good problem-solving ability
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, across multiple sites.
- Strong leadership competency but also can demonstrate team-working skills.
- Ability to manage complex situations with sound judgement
- Commercial and business awareness
- Willingness to travel within the UK and possibly overseas
It would be nice if you had:- Engineering or scientific Degree qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience of working across the full engineering development lifecycle
- Knowledge of Requirements elicitation, defining and qualification of software products
