The role:
As a Type 26 Senior Engineer - Design Change, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This is a unique role in which you will be responsible for aspects of the design change development on complex Royal Navy warships from start to finish and being the technical authority for those changes.

Day-to-day, you'll have two direct reports and work with the class cell to plan, mature and set the requirement on the design services to deliver installation guidelines for Royal Navy Warships design changes interacting with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Work with warship support to develop the Type 26 class cell within Common Support Model (CSM) governance.
  • Work with the class cell to plan and safely deliver design changes (capability insertion), in accordance with the Warship Technical Authority (WTA) responsibilities in the CSM design change process.
  • Capture and monitor the technical requirements of each design change task.
  • Undertake all WTA governance & assurance responsibilities for the design change process which will include requirement management, gate reviews and design reviews.
  • Ensure the embodiment of the design change takes place in a controlled manner.
  • Carry out and/or support technical investigations and analysis to provide data for problem assessment or resolution and for design of improvements.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Senior Engineer - Design Change:

  • Experienced in the end-to-end engineering design change processes of complex assets.
  • Experience of requirements, design reviews and design change installation verification and embodiment.
  • Experienced in working with others to deliver the through life support of complex assets.
  • Experienced in writing high quality technical reports.
  • Application of project management methodologies.

Qualifications for the Senior Engineer - Design Change:

  • Engineering qualification(s) in this discipline, with demonstrable experience. Preferably degree qualified in an engineering or science discipline.
  • Must be a professionally registered Engineer. IEng or CEng with an approved engineering institution or willingness to work towards as part of continuous professional development.

Security Clearance:

  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
