Job Introduction

The BBC Digital Distribution Infrastructure Team is responsible for the deployment and management of Virtual and Physical Infrastructure platforms along with their supporting services. The role involves work in UK-based data centres for delivery, installation, commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting, decommissioning, and recycling of data centre equipment. Some out-of-hours work will be expected.

Main Responsibilities

• Deliver continuous improvements in the operating environment aligned with the BBC enterprise architecture strategy.
• Participate in planning, design, development, integration, commissioning, and testing of media systems.
• Provide technical advice and consultancy across a range of projects and products.
• Design media systems and create implementable solutions to meet technical requirements.
• Ensure systems integration with monitoring and support tools.
• Write, review, and take responsibility for technical documentation.
• Contribute to testing and resolution of issues throughout the project or product life cycle.
• Oversee acceptance testing of new installations.
• Maintain knowledge of industry and competitor developments.

Are you the right candidate?

Essential:

• Experience in design, delivery, or support of technical systems in a media technology environment.
• Proficiency with industry standard management software.
• Data centre management experience.
• Physical ability to rack and de-rack equipment.
• VMware Platform Infrastructure expertise.
• Experience with Enterprise Backup and Replication software.
• PowerShell and Python scripting skills.
• Operating System proficiency in Linux and Windows.

Desirable:

• Ability to communicate complex technology solutions clearly.
• Knowledge of media/technology tools.
• Knowledge of cloud computing disciplines.
