About the Role:
Capilaux is seeking an ambitious and highly motivated Senior Engineer to join a leading consultancy and a growing Rail team, with the opportunity to support the broader Infrastructure Engineering team, including Maritime and Asset Management. This is a dynamic role for a technically strong engineer, capable of leading client management and helping develop engineers and graduates.
You'll work on a diverse range of projects including Station Developments, AFA Schemes, Bridge Design, and Renewal Schemes, with excellent career progression prospects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independence: Work under minimal direction and take ownership of allocated tasks.
- Project Management: Assist with project management tasks, including preparing fee proposals, determining project scope, budget, and programme.
- Team Leadership: Manage and support project team members, providing technical guidance to junior colleagues.
- Client Interaction: Lead client meetings, undertake inspections, and communicate effectively in both technical and non-technical settings.
- Design Reviews & Coordination: Undertake design reviews to ensure coordination between design disciplines and compliance with varying design standards.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and current design methods.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience: Minimum 6 years of civil/structural engineering experience (preferably within the Rail sector).
- Professional Qualifications: Chartered/Incorporated status with ICE/IStructE (or close to achieving).
- Key Skills:
- Strong design experience in Rail sector projects.
- Proven project delivery on time and within budget.
- Experience checking designs and calculations.
- Effective communication skills in a client-facing role.
- Familiarity with Eurocodes, Network Rail standards, and British Standards.
- Working knowledge of structural analysis software (Tekla Tedds, MIDAS, etc.).
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and relevant health & safety legislation.
