Senior Employment Lawyer (Healthcare)

Market leading national law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to join its growing team in Bristol to focus on employment matters in the health and social care sectors. This opportunity is offered on a full or part-time (4 days a week), permanent basis with flexible working patterns accommodated. The firm's Employment Healthcare practice is a market leader in health and social care as well as the local government sectors and the wider team also continues to grow its profile and client base in sectors such as insurance and finance, commercial, higher education and housing.

The Role

This Employment Team has experienced significant growth over the last couple of years and that growth is set to continue.

As a senior employment lawyer in this team, you would:
  1. Act for employers, including national and multi-national organisations including the NHS, as well as independent healthcare organisations and operators within social care and the voluntary sectors, supporting them to improve their employment practices and manage workforce issues, as well as defending employment litigation and seeking to mitigate risks for clients.
  2. Be involved in internal disciplinary, grievance and capability processes.
  3. Review policies and procedures and contracts, advising on equalities obligations.
  4. Have conduct of Employment Tribunals.
  5. Advise on TUPE processes.
  6. Deliver training on a broad range of employment issues.
  7. Build relationships, both externally with clients and across the firm's internal teams.
  8. Supervise and mentor junior lawyers in the team.

About You

To be successful in your application for this role you will:
  1. Be anywhere from about 8 years' PQE upwards.
  2. Have experience and a keen interest in working on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters for clients in the health and social care sectors.
  3. Be familiar with the NHS workforce and contractual frameworks in particular, including Agenda for Change, medical contracts, MHPS and other national healthcare frameworks, regulatory requirements and practices.
  4. Have excellent organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
  5. Have a good teamwork ethic.
  6. Have the ability to supervise juniors and to contribute to the growth of the team nationally.
