Job Description

- Take ownership and responsibility of technical topics to ensure delivery of projects, on time, cost & quality.
- Take the lead on design decisions become a design authority.
- Generating and managing requirement through all project phases.
- Provide systems architecture design. Defining block diagrams for highly complex hardware & software systems.
- Design and development of electronics and hardware architecture for complex robotic products.
- Provide electronics design expertise & technical support for portfolio of garden power tools.
- Close collaboration with all key stakeholder though all development phases from concept to production.
- Mentoring and supporting engineers within the team and wider business.
- Support series production and solve problems with robust and cost effective solutions.
- Understand and implement legislative compliance for target customer regions.
- Contribute to and develop electrical test plans for complex systems.
- Lead risk management and mitigation within electronics discipline. DFMEA, PFMEA.
- Foster and manage positive relations with external stakeholders such as consulted body, Manufactures, Suppliers etc.
- Generate single fault analysis for CB certification and type approvals.
- Consult with internal and external certification and compliance expertise to generate appropriate compliance arguments for products.
- Good attention to detail with excellent organisational skills and the desire to drive towards success.
- Analytical mindset with ability analyse existing designs against standards and safety criterion.
- Must possess the ability to communicate clearly at all levels. Create presentations, diagrams, collate date and deliver content aimed suitable for the target audience.
- Understand, follow and promote company practices on good housekeeping, safety, health, environment and quality.
- Outstanding teamwork and desire for inclusivity at all levels.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electronic Engineering discipline. Master or Ph.D would be an advantage.
- Ideally minimum 5 years’ experience of electronic engineering experience with proven track record for delivery.
- Excellent skills in reading and understanding schematic and PCB designs.
- Use of system engineering and design tools such as CodeBeamer, Doors, Jira, Git, MATLAB, Altium, Arduino, PIC ST etc..
- Some coding knowledge in C, Python etc. is desirable.
- In depth knowledge of motor technology, including brushed and brushless topologies.
- First principles design understanding of analogue and digital electronics circuits and sub-systems.
- Experience with Multicore Microprocessor systems (MiniPC). HDI, DDR4, MIPI, EMMC, CAN etc.
- Experience in VSLAM hardware implementation is desirable.
- Expertise in functional safety and critical safety systems for design.
- Good understanding of the state of the art in IoT sectors.
- Ability to take ideas and make them designs.
- Good hands on practical skills, soldering, prototyping etc.
- Knowledge of test instrumentation and analysis techniques
- EMC test techniques and knowledge of EMC design best practice.
- Knowledge of Lithium battery technology and including charging and protection.
