Senior Electrical Engineer

Compensation: £50,000 - £55,000 / year

We are currently looking for a full time, permanent senior electrical engineer to join us at our Brierly Hill site.

Reporting to the Design manager, you will run and lead your own projects including electrical projects and carry out reporting. You will become the point of call for the junior and graduate engineers, and you will assist in training them as required.

You will also assist the design manager as and when required with the implementation strategy. In this role the successful candidate would be working as part of the electrical design team to deliver projects from feasibility through to construction.


Primary Duties
  • Design, specifications and construction stage project management of electrical projects (all aspects of Electrical Services), this will include all RIBA stages
  • Run and lead their own projects. This will be multiple projects at any one time
  • Ensuring all projects are designed and implemented to meet British Standards and other appropriate legislation
  • Electrical Services Feasibility Study and Energy Efficiency Reports
  • Attend project meetings
  • Attend regular Design Department meetings where workload schedules will be planned
  • Develop good relationships with each team member
  • Assist with implementing QA procedures for all projects
  • Become a Team Leader whom Junior and Graduate Engineers would report to. Help develop and train Junior and Graduate Engineers as required
  • Assist The Design Manager with the implementation of the Design strategy

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Criteria:

  • Ideally at least 5 years Design experience having worked up the Engineer levels to Senior Engineer
  • Experience in design calculation software packages: AutoCAD, Dialux and Hevacomp (for example)
  • Good working knowledge of industry regulations, mechanical design and installations
  • Good working knowledge of utility services both new connections and disconnections
  • Able manage/prioritise workload to meet deadlines whilst maintaining good communication with client and design teams
  • Professionally qualified to at least Higher National Certificate Level
  • Valid right to work in the UK
  • Valid UK driving license is required

Desirable Criteria:

  • Ideally professionally registered with CIBSE and/or IET
  • Ideally a Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership status (the company would support in this)
