We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Electrical (EC&I) Engineer to join our team, focusing on the design, engineering, and instrumentation (EC&I) of process plants within the food, beverage, personal care, and homecare industries. This role is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of electrical control, instrumentation, and installation processes, ensuring all project specifications and standards are rigorously met from initial concept to project handover.

Primary work location will be the Warrington office, with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. Periodic visits to client sites will be necessary for meetings, surveys, and commissioning support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engineering Specifications: Develop detailed engineering specifications for electrical control panels, instrumentation, and full electrical installations to meet project requirements.

  2. Instrumentation Coordination: Collaborate closely with the Process Department and suppliers to define and discuss instrumentation needs.

  3. Proposal Support: Assist the sales team in proposal preparation, estimating labor and materials costs using internal and supplier resources.

  4. Control Panel Manufacturing Management: Oversee the manufacturing of control panels, liaising with suppliers and assisting in testing before shipment to the project site.

  5. Documentation and Schedules: Prepare and maintain Load/Motor, Instrument, and I/O schedules derived from P&ID and equipment data sheets.

  6. Project Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for the site and project team throughout installation, providing technical support for design questions during the installation phase.

  7. Electrical Design and Layouts: Design electrical loop diagrams, cable routes, and layouts to ensure adherence to project specifications.

  8. Panel Schematics Approval: Review and approve control panel schematics and layouts, integrating connection data into the electrical loop diagrams.

  9. Configuration and Commissioning: Configure and commission instruments and variable speed drives (VSDs), supporting I/O testing with the wider project team.

  10. Network Expertise: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of control bus systems, including Profibus DP, Profibus PA, AS-i, and industrial Ethernet networks.

  11. Power-Up and Testing Support: Assist with power-up procedures, I/O testing, and early-stage commissioning activities.

  12. Site Commissioning File: Compile a comprehensive site commissioning file, complete with construction-status electrical drawings.

  13. Project Handover Documentation: Finalize and transfer all electrical drawings and documentation to the project team upon completion.

Technical Expertise Required:

  1. Project Standards Compliance: Ensure all EC&I design criteria are met from concept through detailed design, panel testing, and project handover as outlined in project documentation.

  2. Industry Knowledge: Extensive understanding of the food, beverage, personal care, and homecare industries, including relevant regulations and certifications.

  3. Hazardous Area Compliance: Experience with hazardous area regulations and ATEX compliance standards.

  4. Control Systems and Networking: Proficiency in control systems (such as Siemens or Rockwell) and control networks (Profibus DP, Profinet, and industrial Ethernet).

  5. Safety Systems Design: Strong experience in designing safety systems, including E-Stops and interlocks, per industry standards.

  6. Component Specification and Appraisal: Ability to specify, evaluate, recommend, and source control panel components for both technical and commercial suitability.

  7. Testing and Troubleshooting: Hands-on experience with panel testing in the UK, including I/O Link, Profinet, Profibus DP, Profibus PA, ASI networks, and HART/4-20mA technologies.

  8. Instrumentation Applications: Expertise in various instrumentation applications, including flow, level, pressure, temperature, weight systems, and analytical instruments.

  9. Supplier Collaboration: Previous experience with instrument suppliers such as Endress & Hauser, IFM, Siemens, and Mettler Toledo.
