Job description

FINTEC recruit is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for an international engineering business based in Renfrewshire.
This is a permanent position, with a salary up to GBP65,000 plus, working 37.5 hours per week, early finish on Fridays, plus benefits eg private medical care, contributory pension. Experience of design for PLC systems desirable with experience of the full lifecycle engineering for projects.

Responsibilities:

1. Providing engineering design solutions full life cycle engineering support.
2. Working with new product design, meeting client specifications and upgrades to existing equipment.
3. Create bill of materials, sourcing suitable components and materials.
4. Prepare engineering documentation, eg specifications and proposals, reports.
5. Checking detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation.
6. Supervisory/management experience in coaching/mentoring a small team.
7. Design and commissioning of HV and LV electrical systems with associated calculations.

Skills and experience required for the Senior Electrical Design Engineer role:

1. Proven electrical and electronics design skills.
2. Experience in design calculations and use of software tools eg. CAD packages.
3. Knowledge of design standards.
4. Experience of control systems design using PLC.
5. Experience with PLC industrial automation network interfaces such as Profibus, CANbus, Ethernet etc.
6. Knowledge of DC systems would be an advantage and previous power distribution systems design desirable.
7. Experience of design with HV and LV electrical systems.
8. Experience of working within marine or defence for standards and classification society regulations an advantage (LR, DNV, EFSTAN etc).
