Senior Educator, Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions Directorate

Work Pattern: Fixed Term, Part Time, 18 hours per week

Fixed-term or Secondment: until 31/03/26

Who We Are

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.

The core function of the Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions (NMAHP) Directorate is to support the education, training and continuing professional development of nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, health and social care chaplains and their support workers. The Directorate is also responsible for providing education, training and workforce development across wider professional groups and disciplines, often in partnership with other agencies, to support key policy imperatives.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join the NMAHP Directorate within NHS Education for Scotland. We are looking to appoint a Senior Educator to the Workforce Education and Career Development Programme team. With a focus on contributing to national priorities, you will play a leadership role in the district nursing workstream and the development of the integrated community nursing workforce.

What We Love to See

Senior Educators offer a broad range of skills and experience, if you can offer some or all of these, we’d love you to apply:

• Registration with a professional body preferably Nursing and Midwifery Council due to the nursing nature of this project, Master’s degree or equivalent experience, a nationally recognised education qualification.
• Substantial postgraduate experience and enhanced responsibility in an educational or healthcare post.
• Significant experience in district nursing and experience of working within a multidisciplinary and primary care environment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiating, influencing and facilitation skills at a senior level, with the ability to communicate sensitive and complex information.
• Experience of planning, developing and delivering education and training.
• Well-developed digital knowledge and skills and experience in the development and application of technology enhanced approaches to learning.
• Demonstrate honesty, integrity, care and compassion when dealing with others, utilising tact and persuasion skills when necessary.
• Ability to work on own initiative, to organise and prioritise own workloads, to meet strict deadlines.
