Senior Ecologist: Exciting Opportunities Await!

Are you ready to take your ecological expertise to the next level? My client is seeking a passionate Senior Ecologist to spearhead key projects and drive environmental excellence. With a focus on leading large-scale bat monitoring initiatives and providing mentorship to junior staff, this role offers a dynamic environment where your skills can flourish.

As part of this growing team, you'll have the chance to work on a variety of projects spanning road, water, rail, and housing developments across the UK. Whether you're based in their Luton, Manchester, Birmingham, or London offices, or enjoying the flexibility of a hybrid working arrangement, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of ecological consultancy within this highly regarded and growing consultancy.

Responsibilities & Tasks

  1. Lead and coordinate technical aspects of bat monitoring projects, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  2. Drive the technical quality of surveys, analysis, and reporting, while maintaining compliance with ecological legislation.
  3. Collaborate with project stakeholders to achieve environmental protection goals and deliver exemplary outcomes for our clients.
  4. Mentor and manage junior staff, fostering a culture of growth and development within the team.
  5. Engage in business development activities, advocating for our services and contributing to bid preparation.
  6. Champion our capabilities internally and externally, promoting our services to clients and stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  1. Hold a degree in Ecology, Environmental Management, or related field, with membership or eligibility to join the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
  2. Possess a minimum of 5 years' experience in UK consultancy, with a focus on infrastructure projects and bat ecology.
  3. Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  4. Show proficiency in data management, wildlife legislation, ecological survey methods, and mitigation measures.
  5. Hold a full UK driver's license and have expertise in bat sound analysis and GIS skills.
