Are you ready to join a team of talented Ecologists and shape the future of the environment?

Join our dynamic Nature team as a Senior Ecologist in Leeds, Nottingham, Birmingham, Cambridge, Bristol, Basingstoke, Croydon, with flexible hybrid working options. At AECOM, we lead innovative Ecology programs and projects through long-term client partnerships. Our Northern regional Nature teams are currently working on projects like the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), blue and green hydrogen production facilities, solar farms, and various water and highways projects, with potential travel to North Wales, Scotland, and beyond.

In this role, depending on your interests and skillset, you will have opportunities to support on a variety of areas such as: using innovative techniques for species and habitats surveys, data capture and reporting; work winning; Advanced Bat Licence Survey Techniques; and Biodiversity Net Gain mentoring and coaching of the team. Our supportive environment offers both internal and external training opportunities within a nurturing mentoring and coaching framework.

Here's what you'll do:

1. Actively support the health, safety and well-being of the team and other colleagues;
2. Support the preparation of high quality and commercially astute bids and tenders for ecological services, notably in the energy, defence, and water sectors.
3. Plan, schedule and organise all phases of ecological project work, ensuring necessary resources, budgets and controls are in place to meet both programme and budget requirements;
4. Support delivery of high-quality ecological consultancy and advisory services to both internal and external clients, including through our check and review processes;
5. Support development of technically robust and pragmatic solutions to complex ecological issues;
6. Communicate effectively and professionally with other members of the ecology team, within projects and with clients;
7. Support production of ecology chapters for environmental statements and protected species licence applications;
8. Author or technically check project deliverables to ensure high quality outputs;

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what's possible?

Here's what we're looking for:

1. Demonstrable experience in planning and delivery of ecological services on projects in the UK or Ireland;
2. Well-developed understanding of relevant wildlife conservation or in relation to at least one major habitat type or species;
3. Membership of an appropriate professional institution and evidence of working towards Chartership (such as CIEEM or related).
4. Excellent field skills in at least one specialist area including any protected species licences;
5. A proactive approach to Health and Safety;
