We manage and mitigate risk and deliver quality insurance products and services to protect the company’s employees, assets and liabilities and to meet its contractual obligations to customers across the group. Job Purpose:

  1. Manage and lead the central insurance operations unit covering all non-life insurance operations.
  2. Manage and direct the provision of insurance operations to DHL worldwide trading entities including the collection and collation of exposure information, management of the annual renewal cycle, end-to-end management of insurance premium collection (circa 1,800 invoices / EUR 150m value), delivery of insurance policies and evidence of cover, delivery of High Value Shipment approvals and Customer Insurance rate requests (circa 2,500), and preparation and delivery of management reporting and KPI’s.
  3. Manage London office facilities management and provide a single point of contact for IRM SMT on facilities and operational matters.
  4. Manage the execution of insurance job family strategic initiatives including provision of project management services.

Your tasks:

  1. Manage and direct all non-life insurance renewal processes including the communication and agreement of timelines, exposure data collection and validation, pre-underwriting, and preparation of renewal submissions for program heads.
  2. Manage the collection & validation of claim data, premium payment tracking and exposure changes. Maintain territorial analysis, policy structure, local document requirements & assessment of fronting capabilities.
  3. Manage insurance renewal offers preparation and issuance, including management commentary as required to assist in the delivery of terms to the business partners by the global program heads.
  4. Manage the insurance renewal acceptance process & collate all finalized terms. Facilitate discussions over terms with support of program heads where clarifications / negotiations arise.
  5. Manage insurance program delivery including management of fronting carriers, delivery of evidence of insurance, timely and accurate invoicing, and premium allocations.
  6. Responsible for the preparation and delivery of post renewal reports and KPI’s to all relevant stakeholders.
  7. Maintain and update market share including details of all entities within the global programs, the market and breakeven premiums, claims handlers and deductible levels.
  8. Manage the central collection of all reinsurance agreements & policy wordings. Ensure all agreements are properly executed and that all stakeholders have approved the content of agreements.
  9. Responsible for the management of any security across the non-life programs including letters of credit and parental guarantees.
  10. Manage, train, and direct insurance operations team (5 FTE’s).
  11. Oversee all areas of program delivery including certificates, referrals, ad-hoc pricing requests, high value shipment approvals etc.
  12. Manage the London Underwriting System and centralized data including audit trails. Oversee analysis of management information and development of insights for senior management review including trend identification including internal/external benchmarking where required.
  13. Develop and maintain an excellent working knowledge of IRM service portfolio and value proposition, knowledge of Divisions and their strategies, organizational structures and IRM interfaces.
  14. Manage the London office facilities, including telephony, H&S, data protection, invoicing, and procurement of equipment.
  15. Ensure continuous BPO to improve transactional/analytical processes and engagement & delivery process.

Your profile:

  1. University degree and/or holding a professional qualification in insurance ACII, FCII, CPCU, CEBS, IEBA or other business management qualification.
  2. 10+ years’ experience of Insurance Operations within a global multinational insurance company.
  3. Proven track record in developing, coaching, and leading a team of direct and non-direct reports in a multinational environment.
  4. Exceptional data and analytics, project management skills with excellent time and workload management ability.
  5. 6 Sigma / Lean management experience.
  6. Excellent written and oral communication combined with presentation/management report preparation skills.
  7. Extensive knowledge of PowerPoint, Word & Excel.
  8. Able to multi-task and work to deadlines with a high level of attention to detail.
