Job description

Senior Director, Head of Finance - Biotech

Proclinical is seeking a Senior Director, Head of Finance to lead and manage the finance team during an exciting growth phase. This role involves ensuring robust financial controls and procedures, supporting corporate development initiatives, and enhancing financial awareness across the organization. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and the Senior Leadership Team to drive financial strategy and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the finance team and implement effective financial controls and procedures.
  • Prepare annual budgets and rolling forecasts with the Finance Manager.
  • Review monthly management accounts and forecasts for executive distribution.
  • Oversee project costings and report on variances to enable management action.
  • Prepare and review statutory and tax reporting, including R&D tax credit claims.
  • Approve payroll and manage pension schemes and employee benefit programs.
  • Maintain share option database and ensure compliance with IFRS2.
  • Assist in future cash raises and provide financial modelling for business development.
  • Manage relationships with insurance brokers and banks, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
  • Develop scalable finance processes and maintain policy documentation.
Key Skills and Requirements:
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Experience working for a biotechnology company is a necessity.
  • Strong communication skills, adaptable to various audiences.
  • Problem-solving mindset with flexibility and adaptability.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects under pressure.
