UK Senior Director (Engineering Consultancy) and UK Partner + London

I am working with a Dubai, New York, and Mumbai based multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy who is looking for their next strategic hire - at UK Managing Director level - Engineering (Structural or Building Services)!

My client is a global multidisciplinary engineering practice providing solutions to the built environment with a presence in UAE, KSA, USA, UK, and India.

They are engineers & technicians with international skills and global expertise who have successfully delivered large-scale projects including mixed-use developments, residential, industrial, commercial, hospitality, healthcare, education, aviation, leisure & recreation, fit-outs & redevelopment projects/clusters globally.

Services to be offered by the UK entity: Structures, MEP, MMC, Constructability, Sustainability, and Digital Twin.

Growth: My client envisages a team of 30 design managers/Associate Directors (in 2/3 years) based out of London, supported by 200 production staff based out of India.

Revenue stream:

1. UK projects,
2. Middle East projects led by UK (where Concept and Scheme can be done in London and production can happen from Mumbai office and local design coordination can happen from Dubai office or Riyadh office),
3. Middle East projects led by Dubai/Riyadh office where UK office can work on Concept and Scheme.

Responsibilities:

• Nurturing and maintaining existing client relationships,
• New Business Development,
• Provide leadership, management, and technical quality to the structures team,
• Contributing to board meetings,
• Planning, targeting, structuring, and implementing business plans,
• Staff management including the recruitment of new staff,
• Taking the lead on training members of the structural team, ensuring their professional development,
• Leading and managing projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and to budget, and that clients are satisfied.

Requirements:

• Must be a Chartered Engineer within a relevant institution (MICE/MIStructE, CIBSE),
• Must have a minimum of 15 years' experience, with at least 5 years' in a leadership role,
• Excellent communication skills,
• Excellent business development skills,
• Experience taking the lead on & managing a range of building structures projects (both new build & refurbishment) through to completion.
• Must come from an Engineering Consultancy background (Structural or Building Services).
• Managing people will be a large part of this role, and you should therefore be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate your team.
