Senior Database Engineer

Senior Database Engineer - Contract - UK Remote

This initial 12 month contract, offering a competitive day rate of £589 Inside IR35, provides the flexibility of remote working within the UK, allowing for a balanced professional and personal life.

The Role:

1. To provide effective and proactive database support & maintenance of many of the bank’s critical production services, which spans across multiple database technologies (predominately Oracle & SQL Server).
2. Database lifecycle support (provisioning / deletion / patching / upgrading / migrating)
3. Back-up and Recovery
4. Monitoring and Alerting
5. Change and Incident Management
6. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving
7. Tuning and Optimisation
8. Disaster Recovery

The ideal candidate will possess:

1. A strong understanding and experience of database administration (across Oracle and SQL Server) in a Production setting.
2. An ability to troubleshoot Production issues in an analytical manner and make recommendations to resolve issues and/or deliver enhancements.
3. Experience of undertaking database builds, patching, migrations and upgrades.
4. Experience of High Availability and Disaster Recovery Methods including setup, troubleshooting and support - Oracle RAC, Oracle Restart, ASM, Oracle Data Guard & SQL Server Always on High Availability.
