Urgently required! 3 vacant roles for 6 months to build and develop an in-house Data Science capability across 5 customer facing business units: Insurance, Cruise, Travel, Magazine and Money. Saga is truly a playground for data! If you are able to code and immediately available read on.

As one of our Senior Data Scientist at Saga, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our data strategy and driving the development of advanced analytics solutions. Your primary responsibility will be to harness the power of data to extract meaningful insights, inform strategic decisions, and contribute to the overall success of the organisation using machine learning and statistical techniques.

You will have access to the latest analytical tools and the chance to work with some of the most renowned Decision Data leaders in the UK market.

Remote working with a hybrid approach, occasionally you will be required to attend some team days and business meetings in our Saga hub located in London - Kings Cross. You will need to be within a reasonable commuting distance to undertake this role.

*** For now, the role is for the term of 6 months, in the future the contract may get extended or moved to a permanent contract.

Main Responsibilities

Our Senior Data Scientist will be fully accountable for the following areas:

1. Advanced Analytics & Modelling: Design, develop, and implement advanced machine learning algorithms and statistical models to solve complex business problems.
2. Insights and Reporting: Extract actionable insights from large, complex datasets to guide business decision-making.
3. Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with business stakeholders and technical colleagues to understand data science requirements and integrate data science solutions into existing workflows & applications.
4. Data Strategy and Model Governance: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute the company's data strategy.
5. Project Management: Manage and deliver projects on time, to high standards.
6. Agile ways of working: Demonstrate experience in working in an agile environment, participating in sprint planning, and adapting to changing priorities.
7. Continuous learning: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data science and machine learning.

The Ideal Candidate

Working as a Senior Data Scientist at Saga, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

1. Previously worked in a data science role for a large data rich organisation, with a track record of independent project delivery.
2. Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or R. SQL also necessary to leverage old code base.
3. Expertise in machine learning, statistical modelling and data analysis.
4. Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
5. Experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms, ideally Azure.
6. A curious nature, with the drive to learn and master new tech and methods.

Desirable:

1. Previously worked in an agile working environment, with a focus on iterative and collaborative project delivery.
2. Experience with data visualisation tools e.g. Tableau.
3. Experience in model monitoring (MLOPS experience would be desirable).
4. Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics or related disciplines.
