We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Senior Data Scientist to join our growing team. You will be joining a growing team which is engaged in a variety of exciting new projects which are crucial for the continued success of Sage.

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will have the opportunity to take a leading role in driving best practices, decision-making and mentorship within the team - engaging in both hands-on technical implementation of Machine Learning (and AI) models as well as working cross-functionally with a variety of different stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Python programming and a passion for leveraging data to solve complex business challenges. In this role, you will work closely with other team members to analyze data, build and deploy models, and contribute to the development of data-driven solutions.

*** This is a hybrid role – you will be working 3 days a week in our Newcastle office. ***

Key Responsibilities
What you will be doing:

  1. Analysing and interpreting large datasets using Python and other relevant tools.
  2. Developing and implementing machine learning models, including but not limited to:
    1. Supervised learning (e.g., regression, classification)
    2. Unsupervised learning (e.g., clustering, dimensionality reduction)
  3. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and translate business needs into analytical solutions.
  4. Communicating complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  5. Staying abreast of the latest advancements in data science and machine learning.

Requirements:

  1. Data fluency specifically relating to SQL.
  2. Experience working with Python.
  3. Cloud Computing exposure (AWS would be preferred).
  4. Familiarity with Snowflake would be nice-to-have.
  5. Experience in stakeholder engagement in previous roles.
  6. Ability to teach and coach junior team members would be advantageous.
