The opportunity

AJW Group is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to spearhead AI-driven innovation and data science initiatives within our newly formed Digital Innovation team. This role is pivotal in leveraging our extensive data assets, applying advanced machine learning techniques, and integrating AI solutions into our business operations. The ideal candidate will be both a hands-on data scientist and a strategic leader capable of mentoring a growing team and driving high-impact AI projects.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Lead and mentor a team of AI specialists, fostering collaboration and growth.
2. Develop and execute an AI strategy aligned with business objectives.
3. Drive AI adoption through training, workshops, and stakeholder engagement.
4. Design and deploy ML models to enhance efficiency across business functions.
5. Leverage data to drive insights, automation, and process optimization.
6. Oversee the full AI/ML lifecycle, from development to deployment and monitoring.
7. Explore emerging AI technologies to strengthen capabilities.
8. Identify AI opportunities with business analysts and define project goals.
9. Integrate AI models into enterprise systems seamlessly.
10. Develop reporting tools to measure AI impact.
11. Ensure compliance with AI ethics, security, and company policies.

About you

1. Strong Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and SQL skills.
2. Experience in a leadership or mentorship role within AI or data science teams, with a background of Data Science prior to leadership roles.
3. Ability to communicate complex AI concepts to non-technical audiences.
4. Expertise in data engineering, big data processing, and ML Ops best practices.
5. Specialising in NLP, time-series forecasting, recommendation systems, or computer vision.
6. Hands-on experience with cloud AI deployment (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
7. Proven success in leading AI projects from concept to production.
