Job Description:

Trilateral Research is recruiting for a Senior Data Protection Advisor with proven expertise and experience in data protection compliance to join our Data Protection and Cyber-risk service.

As part of the team, you will face some of the most interesting data protection challenges of the day, resolving them on behalf of our varied portfolio of clients. We deliver bespoke services to public, private, and third sector clients in the UK and Ireland, supranational institutions, and international organisations. You will be supported by a network of experts in delivering services to our clients on pressing issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leading and delivering outsourced DPO and DPO Assist services to clients.
  2. Undertaking large scale data protection projects for International and Supranational clients, ensuring high-quality and timely project deliverables.
  3. Independently fulfilling data protection compliance activities such as data protection impact assessments, compliance audits, gap analysis, and data mapping services.
  4. Managing client relationships and engagement activities to ensure successful service delivery.
  5. Writing briefs for clients on relevant topics, including newsletters and outreach material.
  6. Driving key improvements to internal systems, processes, and client services.
  7. Contributing to strategic business development tasks, including developing proposals and bids for new projects.

Skills and Experience:

  1. Interpersonal skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders and clients.
  2. Proactive problem-solving and analytical skills.
  3. Adaptable with a strong attention to detail.
  1. Education and Experience: An LLM, relevant postgraduate qualification and/or CIPP/E or other data protection or information security compliance certifications.
  2. 5+ years of post-qualification experience in a data protection-centered role.
  3. Experience leading assessments and risk management for complex data processing activities.
  4. Experience independently leading and managing multiple projects to successful completion.
  5. Proven experience managing and fostering positive client working relationships.
  6. Experience in business development and proposal/tender writing.
  7. Experience writing newsletters and outreach materials.
  8. Experience in large/complex organisations.
  9. Experience in a consultancy environment.
  1. Knowledge and Technical Skills: Thorough operational knowledge of Irish and/or UK and EU data protection legislation (including GDPR/EUDPR).
  2. Knowledge of other privacy or compliance frameworks outside of GDPR.
  3. Proven ability to analyse legislative requirements and translate them into organisational practices, solutions, and accessible material.
  4. Excellent project management, presentation, and reporting skills.
  5. Knowledge of national data protection legislation for the US or other EU countries (outside of IE).
  6. Knowledge of the Irish Health Research Regulations.
  7. Knowledge of data protection requirements related to registries, laboratories, biobanking, clinical processing, and health research processing activities.
  8. A working knowledge of cybersecurity.

What Else Do I Need to Know?

Location: This position is open to candidates based in the Republic of Ireland OR the United Kingdom (remote working available with occasional site visits).

Salary: Commensurate with experience.

Hours: Full time.
