Senior Data Privacy Specialist
The Data Protection lead responsible for data protection/GDPR strategy and compliance. Provides leadership to managers & professionals.
You'll be responsible for:- Sets and achieves data protection strategic objectives.
- Provides data protection advice, support, and training to the business.
- Provides bespoke data protection advice to key strategic projects and working groups.
- Maintains and improves data protection compliance across the business, embedding a global corporate data protection standard.
- Ensures compliance with statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements, including ICO registration.
- Creates and maintains policies, processes, and contract documentation in accordance with the GDPR and UK data protection law.
- Promotes the business as a data protection lead for the construction sector.
- Maintains and improves mandatory GDPR training programme.
- Promotes GDPR on Infomace and via Mace social media to embed learning.
- Agrees a joint strategy for data protection with IT, including representation on the software design authority and with direct input into the Digital Transformation Board.
- Acts as a key point of contact for data subjects, supervisory authorities (ICO), internal business units, external clients, contractors, suppliers, and auditors.
- Acts as a key point of contact for data protection/GDPR incidents, including breaches of personal data, and data subject rights.
- Acts as a key point of contact and responsibility for EU Representative (post Brexit).
- Manages data protection team, including line manager responsibilities.
- Manages external data protection legal counsel retainer and relationships.
- Identifies and implements continuous improvement plans/identifies key business improvements.
- Manages & provides leadership to a team of managers and professionals, ensuring the principles, structures, tools/capabilities, and responsibilities are in place to deliver area plans and deliver excellence.
- Provides performance management, technical development, and coaching.
- Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
You'll need to have:- CIPP/E qualified and IAPP membership (or equivalent).
- Qualified lawyer, legal practice, or in-house legal experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of GDPR and national data protection laws and ICO guidance.
- Previous experience of leading and managing data protection at a medium to large organization.
- Presents and communicates information and key points of an argument with tact.
- Persuades and influences leaders to invest and embed an ongoing data protection compliance regime.
- Uses data, data analysis, or other evidence to support solution finding process.
- Builds wide and effective networks inside and outside the organization.
- Takes ownership to complete tasks, deliver on commitments, and see things through.
- Safeguards the reputation of the Mace brand.
- Delivers to agreed deadlines, effectively handles multiple demands and competing priorities.
- Sets clearly defined objectives for self and others to deliver plans.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm to work with others and interacts well at all levels.

You'll also have:- Additional international/national data protection qualifications.
- Knowledge of data protection/privacy laws in the US, UAE, and other international jurisdictions.
