Senior Data Engineer

What you will be working on

• Technical design, development and deployment of controls within the Finance development roadmap in Fabrics, across large data volumes using SQL and other analytical tools.
• Data discovery experience, with the ability to reverse engineer database schemas to identify data required for analysis.
• Interpret requirements and offer innovation in the design of controls, ensuring solutions are optimised.
• Ensure designs and coding are performed in accordance with defined quality and coding standards, design and architectural principles.
• Work collaboratively with business and technology stakeholders to document and analyse reporting and analytical requirements.
• Build enhanced visualisations to provide greater insight through drill downs of the data to the stakeholders.
• Investigate complex finance data structures using data analysis techniques.
• Provide technical support to project team members and departments.
• Work with the test teams to produce effective test plans and ensure that testing is carried out to a high standard.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen Financial reporting processes, technologies and ways of working.
• Mentor Junior Team Members.

What do I need to be successful in this role?

• Advanced knowledge and experience of PL/SQL (using Azure and Fabrics or similar).
• In-depth SQL knowledge with experience interrogating data from large relational databases.
• Proven expertise in database architecture, web-based applications and cloud-based environments.
• Experience of any scripting language (e.g. perl, javascript, php) or other programming background.
• Analytical and critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
• Motivation and a commitment to delivering quality solutions on time.
• Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Access.

• Power Bi and Azure experience.
• Agile Methodology experience.
• Python experience.
• Machine Learning techniques experience.
• Confident self-starter, with attention to detail.
• Financial & Commercial awareness.
