From roadside assistance to home and motor insurance, and the latest driving technologies, we have it all. As we continue to expand, diversify, and modernise, joining us as a Senior Cyber Security Engineer means you’ll play a crucial role in our success and be part of this exciting motoring journey.
Our Chief Operating Office (COO) are the backbone of The AA, providing both stability and structure to support growth and innovation. We are the drivers of change.

This is the job

At AA, we are committed to enhancing and maintaining the security posture of our IT infrastructure.

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join our Cyber Security team. This role is critical in driving our security initiatives and embedding a security culture across the organisation.

As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving our cyber security technologies. You’ll work on a broad range of complex technical activities and providing operational reporting to support effective governance.

What will I be doing?
  1. Design, configure, maintain, and maximise the AA’s cyber security services and tools to protect against, detect, and respond to unauthorised or malicious activities.
  2. Introduce new cyber security controls and leverage real-life experience to mitigate threats, risks, and vulnerabilities.
  3. Collaborate with other IT functions and third-party vendors to enhance security measures and provide incident response support.
  4. Guide and mentor junior team members, championing cyber security across the business and embedding a security culture.
  5. Drive automation and integration across the estate to form a modern and efficient cyber security capability.
  6. Create and maintain standard operating procedures and operational reports, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
What do I need?
  1. Strong demonstrable experience and technical expertise within Cyber Security/SecOps and Infrastructure.
  2. Hands-on experience in CNAPP/CSPM, micro-segmentation, PEM/PAM, Zero-Trust, Microsoft security solutions, security guardrails, security architecture, threat intelligence, identity management, M365/O365, SIEM, email security (including SPF/DKIM/DMARC), scripting skills, AWS security, firewalls, IT infrastructure, EDR/AV, and secure web gateways.
  3. Proficiency in cloud technologies, preferably Azure, but experience with other cloud platforms is beneficial.
  4. Industry-level operational IT security certifications (e.g., Microsoft security certifications, CISSP, SSCP, CEH) and a strong track record of successfully delivering and supporting security systems throughout the entire product life cycle.
  5. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop effective solutions for complex technical and operational issues.
  6. Team player with drive and determination to make a difference, committed to continual service improvement, and comfortable with objectively challenging peers and superiors to ensure adherence to quality standards, while being pragmatic and able to adapt to the needs of the business.

We’re always looking to recognise and reward our employees for the work they do. As a valued member of The AA team, you’ll have access to a range of benefits including:

  1. 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays + holiday buying scheme
  2. Worksave pension scheme with up to 7% employer contribution
  3. Free AA breakdown membership from Day 1 plus 50% discount for family and friends
  4. Discounts on AA products including car and home insurance
  5. Employee discount scheme that gives you access to a car salary sacrifice scheme plus great discounts on healthcare, shopping, holidays and more
  6. Company funded life assurance
  7. Diverse learning and development opportunities to support you to progress in your career
  8. Dedicated Employee Assistance Programme and a 24/7 remote GP service for you and your family

We’re an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from everyone. The AA values diversity and the difference this brings to our culture and our customers.
