Job Description

As a Senior Cost Accountant in Witney, you will work in a modern, highly automated state of the art facility, participating in the daily operations of the Finance department.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Completing and submitting planning schedules for the Annual Plan, Quarterly Latest Best Estimates, and Long Range (5 year) Plans as per the Divisional calendar, with the aim of obtaining drivers for variances from the business and presenting results to Senior leadership.
• Understanding, owning, and supervising the annual standard cost-setting process for all manufactured product lines, including detailed manufacturing costing analysis and variances from standard (e.g. Labour efficiencies, Volume absorption, Material Usage, Purchase Price Variances).
• Business Partnering with Operations, participating in relevant onsite meetings to understand key operational issues and their impact on the Financials. Holding the business accountable for delivering against plans, committed outputs, and results.
• Identifying and implementing cost savings in materials and labour, managing inventory planning, and conducting timely monthly reviews of relevant balance sheet reconciliations.
• Sharing internal and external audit compliance activities with the rest of the Finance team.
• Working on process improvement initiatives and projects with the support of external systems consultants to achieve quality reporting as well as time and cost efficiencies.
• Collaborating with the wider Finance team on the timely completion of month-end tasks, including preparing and sending relevant reports on time and in full to various parties across the business and division.
• Supervising a small team of 2 Costing Analysts.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Senior Cost Accountant will be highly proactive and passionate about cost accounting and process improvements, with a solid background in handling large volumes of data and condensing them into executive summaries.

Ideally, the candidate will hold a full Qualification in CIMA/ACA/ACCA with significant experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. The candidate must be organised, flexible, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
