WASTE & RESOURCE MANAGEMENT - SENIOR CONSULTANT

Please note that this job can be based in any of our offices, in Chester, Guildford, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, or York.

Due to the ongoing success of this initiative, we are currently looking for passionate and dynamic Waste and Resource Management (WaRM) specialists to join our growing team in delivering a sustainable low-carbon future.

Position Overview: Joining during an exciting period of expansion of our global WaRM group, you will be part of a new team in the UK, delivering projects and working with experts from across the globe. You will have the ability to shape the direction of the new team targeting work with private and public sector clients in the UK and internationally. You will be working on a wide variety of schemes throughout the project life cycle, providing services from feasibility and strategy development through to procurement, design and due diligence. Projects will range from small scale incubator developments to national circular economy and waste plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement waste management strategies that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, focusing on sustainable waste management solutions.
  2. Conduct comprehensive waste audits, feasibility studies, and scheme assessments to identify opportunities for waste minimisation, recycling, and energy recovery.
  3. Support on procurement, due diligence, master planning, modelling, strategy and international development projects, inputting into decisions of projects to bid for and clients to target.
  4. Provide technical expertise in waste processing, recycling technologies, anaerobic digestion, thermal conversion, and other energy recovery methods.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design integrated waste management systems that optimise resource utilisation and minimise environmental impact.
  6. Analyse data and prepare detailed reports, presenting findings and recommendations to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  7. Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and regulations in waste management, energy conversion, and circular economy practices.
  8. Link WaRM activities to Circular Economy, Sustainability and Social Value improvements on all projects.
  9. Foster strong client relationships by delivering high-quality solutions, ensuring client satisfaction, and maintaining project timelines and budgets.

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, resource management or a related environmental field. Other methods of obtaining knowledge and experience are also welcomed.
  2. Proven experience in waste and resource management, including energy conversion technologies and waste-to-energy projects.
  3. Knowledge of UK waste management regulations, environmental legislation, and waste-related developments.
  4. Familiarity with waste characterisation, waste stream analysis, and life cycle assessment techniques.
  5. Proficiency in utilising software tools for data analysis, modelling, and project management.
  6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  7. Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  8. Membership in relevant professional organisations (e.g., Chartered Institution of Wastes Management) is advantageous.
  9. Willingness to travel to client sites and project locations as required.
