The Opportunity

Health Sciences & Wellness is a rapidly growing area at EY. Within this area, we are building significant Life Sciences Commercial capability, with an ambition to become the leading Life Sciences Strategy practice.

Within the Life Sciences team, we are hiring Senior Consultants to lead on strategy engagements across a range of Biopharmaceutical clients.

Joining this team as a Senior Consultant gives the right candidate the opportunity to accelerate their career in Life Sciences strategy. The nature of the role demands a hybrid skill set that combines commercial strategy, qualitative and quantitative rigour to problem-solving, with strong creative intuition and a growth can-do mindset.

As a Senior Consultant, you will play a critical leadership role in all of the firm's work. You will often be the primary contact for clients, responsible for developing and executing work plans, and managing associates. Your skills as a consultant are highly tuned in the areas of analytics, communications, teamwork, and leadership.

Internally, you will have leadership responsibilities in areas like recruiting, training, professional development, etc. In addition, you typically will get involved in key strategic initiatives such as the establishment of new practice areas and the generation of proprietary intellectual capital.

As a Senior Consultant, you manage the day-to-day delivery of a workstream within a project, managing teams of between 1 – 3 associates. You will begin taking responsibility for developing the recommendations that will ultimately be implemented by our clients, whilst also learning how to contribute to and grow EY-Parthenon’s business through internal practice building and contributing to new business development.

The Work

Our current work is typically focused on applying our deep sector & strategy knowledge to various types of strategic projects, including:

• Disease area strategy
• Product and business unit strategy development
• Market access & pricing strategy
• Market entry strategy and opportunity sizing
• Medical affairs strategy
• Business development and licensing

You'll work with a high-performing, integrated team which focuses on a variety of global and local corporate clients and private equity clients. You'll have a diverse range of stretching experiences which will give you continuous learning and development opportunities as well as a great sense of achievement.

Your Key Responsibilities

You will lead your teams in:

• Independently performing primary and secondary research including data gathering, interviews, and surveys
• Planning and developing analytics, both qualitative and quantitative
• Developing ‘the story’ – the output to narrate the solution to the client’s problem – including written output (slides)
• Managing relationships with client stakeholders
• Fostering an inclusive culture throughout the team and within engagements
• Counseling Associate Consultants to provide career direction and guidance

Skills and attributes for success

We’re interested in intellectually curious people, with a genuine passion for finding and implementing innovative ways to nurture growth. You’ll also need excellent communication and negotiation skills. Experience in Biopharmaceuticals - ideally gained from another consulting environment and/or a Global Pharmaceutical and Med Tech organisation.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Preferably hold a PhD (preferred but not mandatory), MBA, Master in Health Economics, Health Policy and/or Pharmaceutical Sciences
• Ability to write to a high standard, fluent/native in English with additional major languages desired
• Experience working in key therapeutic areas such as oncology, immunology, neurology, cardiovascular diseases etc.
