Job Role: Senior CAD Technician – Water Sector Projects

Location: Bristol or Exeter (Hybrid working available)

About the role:

Our client, a leading engineering consultancy, is seeking a Lead CAD Technician to join their team, specialising in major projects within the water sector. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex, large-scale projects, alongside a highly skilled team of Engineers and Technicians. The role offers hybrid working, with the flexibility to work from either the Bristol or Exeter offices.

As a Lead CAD Technician, you will work with a range of 2D and 3D software, including Civil 3D and Revit. You will lead a small team of CAD Technicians and have the chance to mentor junior team members on best practices for CAD software. You will also be involved in the preparation of high-quality project drawings and BIM models, collaborating closely with engineers from various disciplines.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Preparing project drawings and BIM models, ensuring compliance with client CAD standards and BIM data requirements.
2. Collaborating with multi-disciplinary engineers, consultants, and technicians.
3. Managing regional workload plans and ensuring deadlines are met.
4. Developing and mentoring junior members of the Digital Design team.
5. Working within Common Data Environments (CDEs) and using data management systems such as BIM360 and ProjectWise.

About you:

1. Previous experience as a CAD Technician or Senior CAD Technician, ideally with experience in the water sector.
2. Proficient in using 3D CAD software such as Civil 3D or Revit.
3. Experience working in Common Data Environments (CDEs) and with data management tools like BIM360 or ProjectWise.
4. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
5. Passion for mentoring and developing junior colleagues.
6. A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
