SEI Investments (Europe) Ltd (“SIEL”), a FCA-regulated subsidiary of SEI Investments Company (“SEI”), is hiring an experienced compliance officer, at a Senior Associate level. This role will focus on providing regulatory advice, compliance monitoring, training, and other compliance support to SIEL in the UK and on delivering on certain corporate-wide compliance activities as set out in detail below.
Key Objective of the Role:
- To advice, monitor, train and generally support SIEL’s business line from a compliance/regulatory perspective.
What you will do:
- Working with and supporting the relevant leads in Compliance to help the department in its general objective to ensure that the SIEL governance and internal control structures are effective for the firm as a whole, such that SIEL is compliant at all times with all applicable rules and regulations.
- Providing relevant compliance advice to SIEL on new regulatory developments applicable to them.
- Assisting the monitoring section of the Compliance department with conducting, documenting and reporting on monitoring reviews/procedures and following up on the implementation of recommendations.
- Supporting the Compliance department with the development and implementation of its compliance training program.
- Supporting the Compliance department with the write-up of new or revised regulatory/compliance policies and procedures.
- Providing any necessary support with regulatory exams, queries or required notifications/reporting corresponding to SIEL’s business.
- Drafting responses to compliance-related questions included within the firm’s requests for proposals or requests for information and generally providing any other necessary compliance support in this respect.
- Producing and, where appropriate, presenting compliance-related information required for due diligence reviews of SEI, conducted by firm’s client firms.
- Assisting in the review of compliance-related sections of contractual agreements relating to the firm.
- Actively participating in all relevant intra-Legal & Compliance Departmental meetings and representing Compliance in relevant SWP-related meetings.
- Liaising and collaborating with other relevant Legal & Compliance professionals within the SEI Group for, among other things, providing relevant updates and receiving necessary input and support, thus reasonably ensuring a coordinated advice or response to relevant matters.
- Supporting SEI’s Global Compliance function in meeting its objectives primarily via contributions relating to SWP compliance.
- Ensuring that identified breaches of applicable rules and regulations corresponding to SIEL’s Wealth Platform business are dealt with effectively and that they are comprehensively and accurately recorded in the firm’s breach-recording systems and registers; all in accordance with the firm’s breaches policy and procedures.
- Ensuring that complaints from SIEL’s clients are effectively handled with, including drafting all necessary written communications to the complainant as required by applicable rules and regulations (incl. DISP) and the firm’s complaints policy and procedures and that they are comprehensively and accurately recorded in the firm’s complaint-recording systems and registers; all in accordance with the firm’s complaints policy and procedures.
- Performing risk-based, effective and comprehensive compliance reviews of SIEL’s financial promotions, client reporting and other client communication templates and documents that require such a review, in accordance with SIEL’s Client Communications policy.
- Ensuring that all submissions made by the SIEL’s employees in accordance with the firm’s Inducements Policy and Procedures (incl. gifts and hospitality) are thoroughly reviewed and dealt with in accordance with such applicable policy and procedures and that they are comprehensively and accurately recorded in the firm’s inducements (incl. gifts and hospitality) register.
- Assisting in the production of effective and timely management information for senior management, the Firm’s Committees and its Board of Directors.
- Using, as and where appropriate, available compliance or other IT systems, producing, maintaining and updating the necessary records that demonstrate satisfactory completion of the above-mentioned responsibilities (including, for example, evidence of review of client communication materials, monitoring reviews, etc.).
- As part of performing the abovementioned responsibilities, identifying and escalating relevant risks and ensuring that identified risks are recorded in the Firm’s risk management systems together with sufficient and appropriate controls that aim to minimise the impact of such risks to a level that falls within the risk appetite defined by the Firm’s Senior Management and Board of Directors.
- Working closely with other control functions (such as Risk Management, Internal Audit, CASS, Vendor Management, etc.) on matters that require compliance input and to the extent they relate to SIEL.
- Performing any other tasks or activities that may be deemed necessary from time to time, including assisting in any other ad-hoc projects as required.
- With guidance and support, where appropriate, covering for other members of the team in their absence.
What we need from you:
- Demonstrable compliance experience within the financial services industry, preferably within wealth management, asset management and portfolio business with appropriate experience covering CASS, MiFID, SMCR, UCITS, COBS, Market Abuse and SYSCs ideally in multinational organizations.
- Good practical knowledge of a variety of principles, laws and regulations applicable to outsourced investment processing service providers and custodians with proven ability to quickly understand and practically deal with new areas of regulation using a common sense and ‘back to the basics’ approach.
- Proven experience interacting directly and effectively with key business and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong ability to manage expectations of different stakeholders, build consensus and work in a collaborative manner.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Broad knowledge of financial markets, products and services.
- Strong organisational, research and technical information gathering skills.
- Demonstrable capability to analyse (and document) complex business processes.
