Senior Compliance Manager

Job Description

A UK law firm is looking for a Senior Compliance Manager to join their London team.

The Senior Compliance Manager role will collaborate closely with the Head of Risk and the Director of Risk (who also serves as the firm’s COLP, MLRO, and MLCO) to advise on a broad range of legal, regulatory, and ethical issues impacting the firm.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Compliance Manager role:

• Work alongside other Senior Managers and within the wider risk & compliance directorate to monitor and advise on queries and escalations.
• Work closely with partners to advise on complex legal or commercial conflicts and facilitate resolution.
• Review complex anti-financial crime matters and reputational risks affecting the firm.
• Assist the Head of Risk with horizon scanning for new legislative and regulatory requirements.
• Review various contracts, including client and supplier terms.
• Provide business-critical regulatory and compliance advice.
• Assist the Head of Data Protection with Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) when required.
• Implement and update firmwide policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with legal and regulatory obligations while mitigating key risks.
• Support the ongoing change management program within R&E to ensure operational efficiency and maintain high-quality advice to internal clients.
• Develop and deliver training courses and presentations across the firm’s offices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Several years experience within a risk and compliance environment in a commercial law firm.
• Detailed knowledge and experience in resolving complex conflict of interest issues.
• In-depth understanding of SRA rules and legislation affecting solicitors.
• Experience assisting with internal and external investigations, including responding to queries from The Legal Ombudsman, ICO, SRA, or other regulators.
