Job summary

The Tees Perinatal Mental Health Team are looking to recruit 1x Permanent, Full Time Senior Community Mental Health Practitioners. In addition, there is a fixed term/secondment, 30 hour Senior Community Practitioner vacancy to cover a maternity leave of 12 months. We are seeking highly motivated mental health nurse, occupational therapist or social worker with a keen interest in perinatal mental health. You will be a member of a pro-active and forward thinking multi-disciplinary team and be offered opportunities to develop and enhance your skills in this field.

Nursing applicants should already hold NMC registration and have successfully completed their preceptorship programme. Please note: Newly qualified Nurses or those due to qualify will be recruited via a separate process.

The post holder must have excellent communication skills, be able to act on their own initiative and have a knowledge of safeguarding procedures. Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. Qualifications

Essential

  1. Current professional registration with an approved professional body.
  2. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  3. For registered nurses: MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education. Must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  4. Recognised sign-off mentor, clinical educator or equivalent. Must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  5. Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
  6. 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework.

Desirable

  1. Leadership or management qualification
  2. Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area

Experience

Essential

  1. Significant experience working with people with mental ill health in a care environment.
  2. Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers.
  3. Providing clinical supervision to individuals or groups as professionally appropriate.
  4. Mentoring or facilitating students on practice placement.
  5. Working in a multi-disciplinary team
  6. Quality improvement activities

Desirable

  1. Leadership or management experience
  2. Significant experience working with people with mental ill health in a community environment.

Knowledge

  1. Demonstrable knowledge to post-graduate level of evidence-based practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
  2. Understanding of relevant legislation (Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act).
  3. Care Programme Approach and its application in practice.
  4. Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
  5. Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice

  7. Research and development methodology
  8. Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment
