We have an exciting opportunity for aSenior Commercial Managerto join ourPower Business Unitat Freedom, part of NG Bailey. This role is key to our ambitious growth plans, working with private clients on Independent Connection Provider (ICP) projects across the UK, includingData Centres, Solar Farms, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Reporting to both theFreedom Major Projects & Connections Directorand theFreedom Commercial Director, you’ll be part of thePower Solutions Senior Leadership Teamand theDivisional Commercial Leadership Team.

With projects ranging from£3m to £15mand potential schemes exceeding£50m, this is an opportunity to drive commercial excellence and make a significant impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the commercial strategy for ICP and major power projects, ensuring financial success and risk mitigation.
  2. Support early engagement with clients, contract negotiations, and commercial governance.
  3. Oversee the work-winning process, including contract reviews and risk identification.
  4. Manage and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors across in-house and project-specific teams.
  5. Drive commercial best practices, ensuring compliance with NG Bailey’s policies and processes.
  6. Ensure robust contract execution, variation management, and dispute resolution.
  7. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  8. Lead commercial reviews, performance analysis, and cost-value reconciliation.

What We’re Looking For:

  1. We’re seeking a commercially astute leader with a strategic mindset and strong stakeholder management skills. You’ll be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and can influence at all levels.
  2. Proven experience in asenior commercial rolewithinengineering, construction, or power sectors.
  3. Strong contractual knowledge, including risk identification and mitigation.
  4. Experience managing large-scale projects and commercial teams.
  5. Excellent negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
  6. Ability to implement and improve commercial processes and governance.
  7. BSc in Building Services, Quantity Surveying, or similar.
  8. Knowledge of CDM Regulations and IOSH Managing Safely.
