The Scarborough, Hull and York Pathology Service (SHYPS) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Clinical Scientist to work in our busy, friendly Biochemistry Laboratories at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job


The post holder will assist in providing a modern comprehensive high-quality service. The Blood Sciences department has a large test repertoire and is one of the busiest and best-equipped laboratories in the region, incorporating Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology & Blood Transfusion, Immunology and Point of Care Testing departments.


The Biochemistry Laboratory is based in a purpose-built facility at Hull Royal Infirmary and serves a regional population of about 1.4 million people in the provision of acute and routine biochemical analysis services. The Biochemistry department contains two mass spectrometers, ICP-MS, an atomic absorption spectrometer and a HPLC system, along with a fully automated Beckman Biochemistry track.

Person Specification


Qualifications and Training


Essential


  1. Registered as a Clinical Scientist (Clinical Biochemist) with the Health Professions Council (HCPC).
  2. MSc and/or PhD in Biochemistry/Clinical Biochemistry, or equivalent level of knowledge and expertise.

Desirable


  1. Part 1 FRCPath.

Experience


Essential


  1. Broad experience in clinical biochemistry.
