Senior Clinical Research Fellow

NHS AfC: Band 8b

Job overview

Deputy Director of Clinical Research Development Program for Non Medical Healthcare Professionals & Senior Clinical Research Fellow

The post holder (at 0.6 WTE) will work with the Professor of Nursing, the Clinical Research Division leads, and other associated teams to assist in leading research for nursing and allied health professionals across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Specifically, the post holder will work with the Professor of Nursing to provide senior leadership to:

  • Be Deputy Program Director of Clinical Research development program.
  • Implement Trust wide Nursing and AHP research development implementation plan.
  • Liaise with Alder Hey Academy and clinical librarian.
  • Develop own research portfolio and secure research funding.
  • Contribute to developing a strong research culture amongst NAHPs within AH.
  • Provide guidance to staff to develop research skills and application of research in clinical practice.
  • Provide expert knowledge and leadership to staff undertaking research.
  • Secure research funding to ensure continued growth of R&D within the Trust.
  • Collaborate with Edge Hill University to promote collaborative working.
  • Contribute to Trust and University research education and training programmes.
  • Co-organise annual research conference/showcase events.
  • Provide research supervision for nurses/AHPs studying up to and including PhD level.
  • Publish results in peer review journals.
  • Encourage and support nurses and AHPs in getting work published.
  • Establish systems that promote dissemination of findings from research/post-graduate studies.

Person specification

Education & Training

  • Registered children's nurse qualification or Registered Allied health care professional.
  • PhD in a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical research and research governance.

Experience

  • Track record of personal development and achievement within research.
  • Leadership experience and effective communication skills.
  • Evidence of leading practice development, education and training programmes.
  • Experience of being part of a PhD supervisory team.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the NHS structure and current policy documents related to research.
  • Being chief investigator of a study beyond your PhD.

Skills

  • Advanced IT skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to develop partnerships.

Personal Attributes

  • Organised, calm, and assertive disposition.
  • Positive and quality improvement driven outlook.
  • Driving license.
