Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust

We have an exciting Clinical Psychologist vacancy in our South Warwickshire CAMHS team.

We will consider offering these posts as development posts from a 7 - 8a, with a supported process of professional development. Third year trainees on the DClin are encouraged to apply.

We are looking for motivated and committed psychologists for these posts. We are able to offer flexibility in terms of working patterns, hours and location across Coventry & Warwickshire. We are able to offer split posts to develop your expertise in different areas if you would like this opportunity.

The post holder will work within our evidence-based pathways to deliver clinically effective, young person focused services. Successful applicants will receive excellent support and opportunities for continuing professional development, training and therapeutic model accreditation, in line with service objectives. Clinical supervision is available on an individual basis as well as some group-based model supervision for those delivering specific interventions within the service (eg EMDR, CBT). Clinical leadership opportunities are actively encouraged and supported.

Main duties of the job

The post will be based within the South Warwickshire CAMHS Team.

The post holder will:

  1. Provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention of clients referred to CAMHS.
  2. Provide highly specialist psychological advice, guidance, training and consultation to others across a wide range of agencies and settings where appropriate.
  3. Work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team.
  4. Establish and maintain effective communication with various individuals and groups on complex and potentially stressful topics in a range of situations.
  5. Supervise and manage the workload of Band 7 Applied Psychologists, Assistant and Trainee Clinical Psychologists, within the framework of the teams policies and procedures.
  6. Utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence-based practice in individual work and with other team members.
  7. Contribute to the team meetings and the effective operation of CAMHS.
  8. Demonstrate familiarity with the principles of child protection procedures and legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
  9. Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others.
  10. Promote best practice in health and safety.
  11. Promote people's equality, diversity and rights.
  12. Collect, collate and report both routine and complex data and information relating to the performance of CAMHS.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Registered as an Applied Psychologist (Clinical/Counselling) with the HPC.
  • Qualifications or equivalent experience for teaching, training and supervising of doctoral level trainees.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Understanding of child development and family functioning.
  • Knowledge of the range of young people's mental health problems and mental health services.
  • Working knowledge of health, social services, education and the voluntary sector, together with the relevant legislation regarding both children and mental health.
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
Experience
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency setting.
  • Experience in a CAMHS or similar setting.
  • Experience of engaging clients who are hard to reach because of their social circumstances and/or because of communication difficulties.
