We are seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist to join Bridges, Devon's edge of care service.
We are a multidisciplinary team working with families to prevent relationship breakdown leading to children moving to local authority care, and to support relational repair to support children to return to the care of their families.
Main duties of the job
We follow a systemic multi-modal practice framework working with families to identify goal setting whilst taking responsibility for building trust and safety through restorative and trauma informed interventions.
Each team is led by a Team Manager and includes an Adolescent Worker and Family Worker supported by practitioners with specialist expertise in Clinical Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy and Education & Inclusion.
The role will provide clinical leadership to the Bridges service and clinical supervision to the locality Band 8a Clinical Psychologists. As a Senior leader in children's services you will inform wider therapeutic services development and bring psychologically informed thinking to complex family situations across services.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
- Experience as a Clinical Psychologist, working with children, young people and their carers.
- Experience of working with adults and children with trauma histories, attachment insecurity and emotional/behavioural difficulties.
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care co-ordinator and also within the context of a multiagency care plan.
- Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
- Good understanding of attachment theory and trauma-recovery approaches and using knowledge to support improved psychological wellbeing.
- Knowledge and experience of using attachment and trauma recovery approaches to support consultation and training.
- Understanding of the PACE approach (trauma and attachment informed parenting interventions) to supporting professionals and carers.
- Experience of leadership within a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable
- Experience of working within or with children's services where there are safeguarding concerns for vulnerable adolescents and their families.
- Experience of writing assessments for Court.
- Understanding of a restorative and strengths-based approach to risk assessment and child protection planning.
- Knowledge of structures and operations of Local Authority Children's Services.
- Qualified knowledge and experience of the Non Violent Resistance parenting approach.
- Qualified knowledge and experience of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.
- Experience and understanding of multi systemic approaches to working with families where there is risk of children entering care.
Qualifications Essential
- Qualified Clinical Psychologist (D.Clin.Psychol. or equivalent), eligible for Chartered Clinical Psychologist Status in the British Psychological Society or Post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology accredited by the HPC or equivalent.
Desirable
- Additional training in one or more specialised areas of psychological practice.
